It’s not that I’m superstitious — although I take great care in avoiding cracks in the sidewalk. I just figured I’d have nothing to lose by trying to introduce a bit o’ luck into my life.
I considered the obvious options: a rabbit’s foot (kind of gross); a four-leaf clover (I might look for one if I didn’t know my neighbors don’t always clean up after their dogs); a horse shoe; or eating Lucky Charms cereal every morning (but I’m actually more of a Fruity Pebbles gal).
Hence my newest — and quite possibly my most cosmic-altering — accessory: a charm bracelet.
So … now what? Is the luck automatic? Am I good to go?
I’m guessing a lucky-charm bracelet is only as good as the charms you put on it. My collection so far is small but meaningful: An agate, which is a reminder of childhood days spent agate hunting along the beaches of Lake Superior; and a star pendant given to me by a relative that I crafted into a clip charm.
And the oh-so-noticeable glittery Hello Kitty? Uh, well, that’s just super cute.
As fun as all this customizing has been, I have to wonder what kind of luck $5-apiece charms could really conjure. Could anything with “made in China” stamped on it really hold the wonder and magic I’m looking for?
Then again, maybe I’m looking at this all wrong.
Maybe it’s more about the good vibes and positive feelings that come from having something meaningful or sentimental close at hand. If a Hello Kitty swinging from my wrist is what it takes for warm and fuzzy feelings to make all of the not-so-fun stuff less noticeable, then so be it.
Upside: I’ll become a major contender at the bingo hall. Downside: Nothing happens, but I still have a funky, fabulous bracelet.

The album’s lead single, “Keys To The Range”, however was the sole flop from the album.
The group’s third release, Jagged Little Thrill, was released in 2001 and went platinum. Its success was in large part, due to the up-tempo “Where The Party At,” which reached #1 on the R&B charts and #3 on the Hot 100, the group’s highest charting single. Two other singles (“Goodbye” and “I Got It 2″) failed to become hits at radio.
Jagged Edge’s fourth album, Hard, was released in 2003 and went gold. The album’s single “Walked Outta Heaven” performed well on the charts, reaching #6 on the Hot 100 and #2 on the R&B charts. The follow-up single, “What’s It Like” did not fare well on the charts, thus ending the promotion for the album.
During this same year, Dupri and So So Def left for Arista Records but Jagged Edge decided to stay with Columbia.
Jagged Edge’s fifth album, Jagged Edge, was released on May 9, 2006 by Columbia/Sony Music Urban and it went gold. It featured the hit urban single “Good Luck Charm”. Also released on November 21, 2006 was The Hits collection featuring Jagged Edge’s biggest hits plus a few album tracks. The album shared the single “Stunnas” that’s also on the Jagged Edge album as a bonus track.
Jagged Edge parted ways with Columbia Records shortly after the release of their self-titled fifth album and signed back with Jermaine Dupri. Dupri re-signed the group to So So Def through Island Def Jam, which handles the distribution for So So Def, and where Jermaine Dupri is president of the urban division. The group were also granted their own record label called 581 Music which was credited on their album, Baby Makin’ Project.
The only single released off Baby Makin’ Project was “Put a Little Umph In it” featuring Ashanti. It only managed to reach #49 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart. The group recorded so much material for the project that they have saved eight of the tracks for another album, a release date for which has not been announced.
Jagged Edge are signed to Slip-N-Slide Records with an album titled “The Remedy” due out on March 29, 2011. According to member Kyle Norman, the group has a number of collaborations planned.
He stated, “So far we are in talks with Rick Ross and Plies. We talked to Jay-Z about doing a song on the last album, so we are going to try to pursue that again, and we have also been chatting with Snoop Dogg.” The first single off of “The Remedy” is “Tip Of My Tongue” ft.
