The way your garden looks speaks for your own personality. That is why people who care to enhance the good impression that people have of them pay close attention to the way their garden is planted and laid out and the way the plants are trimmed. A beautiful garden is a landmark in the community, a source of pride and a gauge of the kind of people living in the house. And one of the features of a garden that dramatically increases its appeal is garden lighting.
People living in our times hardly realize how lucky we are to be able to control our sources of energy. We are able to illuminate our gardens at night like never before in the past. We have a choice between electric lights or solar-powered lights. And we can also avail of both types at the same time.
We can hang our lights on trees, fix them on metal poles that are driven into the ground, attach them on or into walls and ceilings, embed them into stone figurines. Some types of lights may even be left afloat on water or submerged. We can fix spot lights on garden walls or use ground lights to provide illumination for the lawn floor. There are also lights which are slightly taller than ground lights. These are the grass lights which are used to showcase artfully assembled rock gardens and delicate bonsai plants.
You also have butterfly lights to illuminate and give mysterious charm to shrubbery at night. In the daytime, the crystal bulbs glitter in the sunlight, adding colorful accents to the flowering shrubs. You can select large, solo butterfly lights that are embedded by their posts into the ground. The posts themselves may be studded with tiny multicolored bulbs. Or, if you prefer, get stranded fairy lights which are strung on a central length of cord. These may be wound around shrubs or on the low-hanging limbs of trees.
Just as we are able to choose the source of our light, we are also able to adjust their intensity, from dimmed to piercing brightness. If the lights flicker, the rate at which they do so may also be fine tuned to suite the mood we are in. They can be made to scintillate like little stars or blink sleepily. You can also find lights which change from one color to another even as they glitter.
But what is amazing is that today’s technology allows us to control solar garden lighting by pressing buttons on a remote inside the house. This provides you with considerable versatility in selecting the type of lighting you are inclined to.
Alternatively, you might want to install two or three sets of solar lights and alternate them one after another throughout the entire evening. There are remotes that can set electronic equipment to shut down and restart at given intervals. The same feature should also be available for garden lighting. By using this feature, you won’t even have to touch the remote to run your light extravaganza.
As you can see the possibilities open for you – if you are thinking about beautifying your night lawn with garden lighting – range from the simply elegant to the grandly dramatic. With the appropriate assemblies, you will never find yourself without options for any mood you want your garden to be in.

Presently, clear braces are commonly used in orthodontic practice over the more common traditional metal braces. By replacing the metal wire with clear ceramic or plastic brackets, your teeth can be brought into shape. By using good-quality clear braces, orthodontists can shape your teeth as well as restructure the jaw line. Though, children are more commonly treated in orthodontics, there is a large population of adult Americans who avail dental bracing therapies of different kinds. Even some of the best looking celebrities like Tom Cruise and Katherine Heigl had used clear braces to enhance their charm!
Sometimes, you may find people wrongly interpreting the essence of orthodontic practices. They are found to get confused between these dental treatment procedures and plaque removal or brace-fitting therapies. This is however, a very narrow view to a much broader subject. It’s true that pediatric orthodontics is perhaps the most common form of orthodontic care, but there are two major streams of orthodontics.
Pediatric orthodontists treat children with abnormal oral arrangements and help to set their teeth in a proper manner. When metal or clear braces are used from a young age, the jaw and teeth structure gets fixed in a particular way. However, this should be used from about the age of puberty for best results. In show business or for individuals who address public gatherings – a charming smile bears much value.
‘Cosmetic orthodontics’ is a complex field of study because it deals with resetting of the teeth and gums after they have already taken up a particular shape. Trauma orthodontists deal with accidents and patients who have (somehow) disfigured their jaw line, gums or teeth settings in trauma or impact. This is perhaps the most difficult form of orthodontic practice. But with new developments in the field of dental care like clear braces, orthodontists can now help people better. In popular American cities like Louisville (KY), Jeffersontown (KY), and so forth – orthodontists and dentalcare specialists are much sought after.
Adults in the US who are facing difficulty with braces can now take advantage of various dentalcare utilities like clear braces. Louisville (KY) residents are the lucky ones and can enjoy the services of reputed orthodontic clinics based in the region.
Located across the state in three locations, Kentucky Center for Orthodontics provide some of the latest dental treatment services. With over 35,000 satisfied patients, KY Center for Orthodontics is one of the best dentalcare clinics in the State!

The Town of Nantwich is a Must on your Narrowboat Holiday
Of course, the Narrowboat holiday has a lot going for it.
As well as getting away from the hassle and bustle of cities and
traffic, it also allows you to cruise right in to the heart of some
lovely towns and villages.
At a bend in the Shropshire Union Canal, one of the best canals for a family holiday, in the County of Cheshire, is the lovely old market town of Nantwich.
Here is a canal town we keep coming back to, because it has just about everything
one could want, and has a character and charm that is unique.
There are more historic buildings here than in any other town save Chester.
For a start, try visiting the Crown Inn, right in the middle of the town, in High street
We can highly recommend this pub, a beautiful black and white timber
building constructed after the great fire of 1583. Not only does the
crown serve fine ales and wine but they do a top cappuccino and coffee
to!
While in High Street, have a look at the fine buildings at 41, 46 and 48
these were built in 1586, as part of the rebuilding program me.
The inscription over the building at 41 says:
“‘GOD GRANTE OUR RYAL QUEEN IN ENGLAND LONGE TO RAIGN FOR SHE HATH PUT HER HELPING HAND TO BILD THIS TOWN AGAIN”
This refers to Queen Elizabeth 1 who personally helped finance the rebuilding of the town after the 1853 fire. Still, I guess she could afford it.
The walk into Nantwich from the Shropshire Union canal takes one down Welsh Row, an experience in itself. Along here are buildings that survived the fires, and almshouses’ from 1638.
The oldest building in the town is the Church of St. Mary, with its 14th century chancel. Its octagonal tower comes into view over the rooftops as you cruise into the moorings along the canal embankment.
Shopping is excellent at Nantwich. Woolies of course have left, but L and M’s are in its place in the square. There is also a chemist and nice gift shop in the square.
In Pepper Street, there is Clelows Butcher, and Sea Breezes fish shop. The delightful Odddfellows Arms, with Peter the singing landlord is the first pub you get to from the canal. In Welsh Row, where there is also a good fish and chip shop.
We are actually quite lucky that the canal passes through Nantwich at all: had the owners of Dorford Hall not objected to the canal crossing their land, the broad embankment over Welsh row, and the moorings with their views over the town would have been avoided. Instead the canal would have continued on from the terminus of the mariner, the former terminus of the Chester Canal.
Now, that basin hosts hire boat fleet, lots of lovely colorful second hand boats for sale, and a dry cleaners, water, and sanitary station.
While moored at Nantwich, take a pleasant walk up to Acton. Just head under the aqueduct past Dorford Hall, and you are there. There is a nice little pub here, the Star. The last time we were there, (2009) it looked like it had just re opened after a facelift.
Nantwich is the home of some of the best canal pubs.
You’ll find the wonderful Oddfellows Inn on Welsh row, a brief walk from the canal.
An extremely welcoming landlord who does his own song and dance show on Saturday nights.
There is a good range of real ales, good food and wine. Nice pine bar and plenty of cozy seating, plus outside areas. A must to visit.
On the opposite side of the road, at number 68, is the Wibraham Arms. Here is a larger pub with T.V. screens in one corner. I enjoyed a delightful pint of well kept Doom Bar followed by a Boddingtons. Always a friendly atmosphere here.
While still in Welsh Row, wander down to number 28. Here you will find the old Black lion, dating from 1664.
It’s a tiny free house with a tiny bar and 3 levels o drinking areas with stone floors.
Dark timber, low ceilings with and exposed beams and brickwork ad to the atmosphere of this old Inn.
There is also an upstairs area, plus outside at the side of the pub.
Wheetwood Ales and a good range of other beers are available. Highly recommended.
On entering the town, turn left, and head for the Crown Hotel.
Although this is a hotel bar, not a pub, it is well worth a visit.
A large, black and white building, it proudly displays a sign saying it was rebuilt in 1585 after the fire.
The inside naturally has the crooked beams, off centre pillars and sloping floors of a building of that era. Large areas for drinkers with comfortable chairs. Titanic Anchor and Titanic Golden were in fine form, and try the Woodlands Crown Ale,superb!
Internet access is available through the Nantwich library in Beam Street.
You will find you spend more time at Nantwich than you intended, itis that sought of place!

The City of Light is the most celebrated of Europes metropolitan crown jewels. It is acknowledged as having the most number of recognizable landmarks within a single city; the iconic Eiffel Tower, majestic Notre Dame Cathedral and the spectacular Louvre are merely the tip of the iceberg when considering the plethora of stunning architectural edifices that populate either bank of the serene River Seine. The city is a centuries-old magnet for romance, culture and pageantry that can only be called transcendental in its grandeur and charm.
While seeking out the more mainstream picture-postcard sites of Paris, sightseers will also find that straying off the beaten track to explore the lesser known architectural beauties makes for a rewarding adventure. La our Saint-Jacques is one of the many historical sites of interest that is overshadowed by its more ostentatious peers.
The Gothic-style tower rises from between the spectacular backdrop of Rue de Rivoli and Place du Chtelet. The early 16th century construct used to be part of the church then known as Saint Jacques la Boucherie, or Saint James the Butcher. The lovely tower is today the only remaining evidence to the loveliness the buildings Renaissance artistry.
The tower used once used to be a significant landmark for Christian pilgrims en route to Spains Santiago de Compostela, one of medieval Christendoms great trifecta of pilgrimage. Rising to a height of 171 feet, the tower must have been quite eye-catching with its flamboyant adornments of stained glass windows, spiked turrets and niches occupied by delicate statuary.
Unfortunately, the church was one of the many historical sites that fell victim to the destruction and pillage of the French Revolution; the beautiful tower was reduced to a stone quarry until 1836, when the city reacquired it and granted a semblance of its former dignity by making it the centrepiece of one of the first public squares constructed in Paris. It was later restored to its former glory by architect Thodore Ballu, who had it placed atop a pedestal and made it the focal point of a small park.
The Tour St. Jacques then attained another claim to fame in the 17th century, when physicist and mathematician Blaise Pascal decided to use it as a laboratory for his experiments of atmospheric pressure. These experiments led to pivotal findings that helped shape modern technology. Today, the tower houses a statue of Pascal and many of his original meteorological instruments at its pinnacle, as a tribute to the famous scientist.
Most recently, the tower disappeared behind a net of scaffolding for years while the city reinforced and revamped it for the public. In 2009, it finally emerged from its cocoon to be revealed as one of the major features in the Parisian landscape; a triumph of architectural resilience that was finally recognized not as a historical remnant but a standalone monument in its own right.
The Tour St. Jacques and many more of Pariss historical marvels can be explored by visitors lucky enough to book a stay at one of the palace hotels Paris. The recently revamped Le Royal Monceau Raffles Paris is one of the foremost among this class of accommodation. Situated within sight of the Champs Elysees within the very heart of the city, the luxury hotel Paris combines the breathtaking quintessential elegance of the city with the classic hospitality of the international Raffles brand name.

The use of coins in fashion jewelry has been done for centuries. Whether it be a coin of little value used just for its eye appeal or a coin of great value kept close to the heart where it would be easily protected coins have long been used in many different jewelry forms.
Coin necklaces have become very popular in fashion over the last 30 years but truly took off during the first years of coin operated game and vending machines. The wearer would have the coin required by the machine on a strong chain or strap and would place the coin into the slot, begin the game or open the machine and then quickly tug on the necklace and pull the coin back out again. It didnt take too long for this ability to be fixed. The machine manufacturing companies began to install small blades that would catch or slice the necklace and the coin would be lost to the machine. Larger gold coins began to show up on runways as statement pieces. Wearing something such as a gold Krugerrand coin in a bezel that would still keep the value of the coin was quite a status bump. Things like lucky penny necklaces became a gamblers accessory or were worn by someone searching for that extra boost of luck from the universe when life had been a bit rough. Foreign coins on necklaces were worn to show places in the world one had traveled to and most often there was some sort of romance attached to the country of the coins origin. Ancient coins and shipwreck coins are turned into necklaces for their artistic appeal and for the stories that come along with them. Stories of Ancient Rome, Warriors and Pirates are quite common in old coin jewelry and are always an added bonus when giving the necklace as a gift.
Coin Rings are most commonly traced back to people wanting a ring with a look that was a kin to the old sealing rings of royalty. It was also a way for someone to show the vast amount of their wealth because turning a coin piece into a piece of jewelry meant that you did not need it to survive. Some royals would even turn a coin from a country they had beaten in war into a coin to show their superiority. The fashion use of coin rings comes mostly from superstitions and romance. An old coin carrying some history or a coin said to be filled with luck are most commonly used. The coins are set in a few different was and tend to favor the side with the most stand out design. Usually that would be the reverse side but with ancient coins it it just the side that still had the most detail left.
Coin Bracelets tend to be less common but have seen a surge in popularity lately due to the classic charm bracelet being brought back into popular culture and fashion. Most often a lucky penny is used and with that it is often a penny from the year of the wearers birth. However, larger coins have been used as single statement pieces and are even sometimes used as the faces of a watch. A large coin is usually set into a wide bangle for a womans wrist and may be accompanied by side stones of a large and chunky texture. Pirate and shipwreck coins are the most common for this type of jewelry piece. A coin of large value is not usually used as setting it into the bracelet would ruin part of the coin and greatly diminish the value.
