Decorative dolls are one way to make a home more festive for holidays. Setting out a collection of showpieces for friends and neighbors to see is one way to get people more excited about the special day. Celebrate each season with decorations. Finding different ways to use the dolls as accents can prove to be both thought provoking and enjoyable. For those that have a number of different decorative dolls in the home to suit any occasion, the trend is to share them with visitors by arranging them in different rooms on shelves, bookcases, desks, tables, chairs and festive greenery.

Christmas
There is more to Christmas decorations for the home than stockings and a tree. Dolls, ornaments and figurines join in with any home decor to blast away the winter doldrums and spread holiday cheer. Use Christmas characters bedecked in green, red and white to help spice up every room in the house. When the time for decorating is done and it is time to wrap presents, don’t forget to include a few of the new decorative dolls as gift ideas for Mom. Tie them on to the outside of a package or slip them inside a gift bag.

Easter
Easter and springtime go hand in hand. Seasonal decorations for spring include bunnies, ducks and friends preparing for a visit from the Easter Bunny himself. A decorative doll can be arranged with Easter grass and bright spring colors in the kitchen or living room – or to create a bright atmosphere for the season.

Halloween
Ghoulies and goblins are sure to add some enchantment to Halloween. The more Halloween decorations that are noticeable in the days before All Hallows Eve, the more excited the neighborhood children will be to visit on the spookiest night of the year. They will expect dressed up dolls. What they may not expect are hanging, hiding or flying characters with every costume imaginable from ghosts and witches to pirates and police.

St. Patrick’s Day
‘Tis the luck ‘o the Irish that brings dolls dressed as leprechauns guarding a pot of gold. Shamrocks and kelly green are landmark signs that St. Patrick’s Day has arrived. Decorating a home for the traditional Irish holiday adds a splash of fun and excitement to any humdrum weekend. For an extra bit of enjoyment, throw a party and put up some streamers for the decorative dolls to hang on to.

Seasons
Winter, spring, summer and autumn decorations bring their own collection of fun with snowmen, and characters frolicking in leaves and blooming flowers. Accent the home with a welcome of each season for decoration.

John Rocha was born in Hongkong. In the 1970′s he moved to London as a fashion student. He was truly inspired by Irish linen and moved to Ireland in the 1980′s and has been there since with his wife and business partner. All this time he has been working on his collections, experimenting with various techniques, materials and designs. His unique ways of handcrafting knitwear and hand painting silks give his collections a special appeal. The biggest highpoint of his career would probably be in 1994 when he won the award of British designer of the year and has not looked back since then. Nowadays, John is an internationally recognized brand.

John did not restrict himself to one medium. He diversified his work to various other fields. The John Rocha at Waterford crystal collection was a big hit in 1997. This range has enjoyed consistent success since then. In 1999, John Rocha launched his very first interior design project in Dublin, The Morrison Hotel. Presently, it is rated among the best hotels through out Europe. This inspired him to launch various other interior design projects. He started an apartmental and penthouse development project in Liverpool City centre named, L3. Currently, he is working on two more projects. One is an Urban residential project in Birmingham City Centre and Luxury apartments in Budhapest.

John was launched in 2000. It involved five exclusive Debenhams ranges for Womenswear, Menswear, Childernswear, Home and Accessories. He received the CBE (commander of the British Empire) award in light of his contributions to the British fashion Industry. In 2002, John Rocha Jewellery was launched in Dublin. Johen Rocha jewellery has one of the most innovative and inspired collections. The collection ranges from the simpler pieces to the more complicated ones. The designs are very unique and original. They are mostly inspired by organic substances, part of every day life. E.g. There is the LEAF. It is comprised of sophisticated shapes that form up an arc, when worn, around the neck. Other designs include a cross, pebbles and many other articulate pieces. They are high quality personal use items as well as top notch gifts.

Finally this bright man decided to share his design philosophy. He wrote a book named Texture Purity form Detail. This book was a magnificent illustration of his beliefs and practices with regards to design. It serves as the perfect record of John Rochas extremely successful ventures in the fields of Interiors, Fashion, Product and architecture. 2004 marked the beginning of a new venture. BLACK CUT at Waterford crystal. It includes a range of black stems and gift ware. The black cut includes products like the Water crystal John Rocha black cut Red wine glass, water crystal John Rocha black cut Champagne flute or the waterford crystal John Rocha black cut Tumbler. The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is an American mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion company that hosts most of the top-ranked fighters in the world and produces numerous events worldwide. The UFC has seven weight-divisions and enforces the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts. Dana White serves as the president of the UFC; Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta control its parent company, Zuffa, LLC.

Inspired by vale tudo tournaments in Brazil, the UFC and the sport of MMA have roots in the ancient Olympic combat sport of Pankration in 648 BC. The UFC held its first competition in Denver, Colorado in 1993. Showcasing fighters of different disciplines including boxing, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, wrestling, Muay Thai and other styles the UFC sought to identify the most effective martial art in a real fight. After a period of political backlash, the UFC gradually underwent reform by embracing stricter rules and achieving sanctioning with State Athletic Commissions.

With a cable-television deal and expansion into Canada, Europe, Australia the Middle East, Asia and new markets within the United States, the UFC as of 2011 has gained in popularity, along with greater mainstream-media coverage. As of 2011 viewers can access UFC programming on pay-per-view television in the U.S., Australia, Canada, New Zealand and Italy.

UFC programming can also be found on Spike and Versus in the U.S., on ESPN in the United Kingdom and Ireland, as well as in over 130 countries and in 20 different languages worldwide.
Although UFC used the tagline “There are no rules!” in the early 1990s, the UFC did in fact operate with limited rules. There was no biting, no eye gouging, and the system frowned on (but allowed) techniques such as hair pulling, headbutting, groin strikes and fish-hooking.

In fact, in a UFC 4 qualifying match, competitors Jason Fairn and Guy Mezger agreed not to pull hair as they both wore pony tails tied back for the match. Additionally, that same event saw a matchup between Keith Hackney and Joe Son in which Hackney unleashed a series of groin shots against Son while on the ground. The UFC had a reputation, especially in the early days, as an extremely violent event, as evidenced by a disclaimer in the beginning of the UFC 5 broadcast which warned audiences of the violent nature of the sport.

UFC 5 also introduced the first singles match, called “The Superfight.” This was an important development because singles matches would feature fighters who suffered no prior damage from a previous fight in the same event, unlike tournament matches. Singles matches would also become a staple in the UFC for years to come.

“The Superfight” began as a non-tournament match that would determine the first reigning UFC Champion for tournament winners to face; it later evolved into a match that could feature either title matches or non-title matches.

The “Superfight” would eventually completely phase out tournament matches; by UFC Brazil, the UFC abandoned the tournament format for an entire card of singles matches (aside from a one time UFC Japan tournament featuring Japanese fighters). UFC 6 was the first event to feature the crowning of the first non-tournament UFC Champion, Ken Shamrock.

Faced with the prospect of folding, the UFC stepped outside the bounds of pay-per-view and made a foray into television. After being featured in a reality television series, American Casino, and seeing how well the series worked as a promotion vehicle, the Fertitta brothers developed the idea of the UFC having its own reality series.

Their idea, The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) a reality television show featuring up-and-coming MMA fighters in competition for a six-figure UFC contract, with fighters eliminated from competition via exhibition mixed martial arts matches was pitched to several networks, each one rejecting the idea outright. Not until they approached Spike TV, with an offer to pay the $10 million production costs themselves, did they find an outlet.

In January 2005, Spike TV launched TUF in the timeslot following WWE Raw. The show became an instant success, culminating with a notable season finale brawl featuring finalists Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar going toe-to-toe for the right to earn the six-figure contract, an event that Dana White credits for saving the UFC.On the heels of the Griffin/Bonnar finale, a second season of The Ultimate Fighter launched in August 2005, and two more seasons appeared in 2006. Spike and the UFC continue to create and air new seasons.

Following the success of The Ultimate Fighter, Spike also picked up UFC Unleashed, an hour-long weekly show featuring select fights from previous events. Spike also signed on to broadcast live UFC Fight Night, a series of fight events debuting in August 2005; Countdown specials to promote upcoming UFC pay-per-view cards, and several other series and specials featuring and promoting the UFC and its fighters.

A controversial film for many horror fans, Halloween III is probably the most despised entry in the series for many. This would be on account of the fact that it is the only Halloween movie that does not feature masked killer Michael Myers. But is that really such a bad thing? I mean, honestly?

The Halloween franchise suffered a very similar fate as the Friday the 13th series did at roughly the same time. The original concept for both franchises was to do a movie based on something completely different each year or so, making a series that would be something of an anthology of different horror stories. But after the huge success of the first film, Michael Myers, like Jason (despite the latter never actually appearing in the first ‘Friday’ movie) was revived for the sequel with mixed results. So I have to give credit to the filmmakers of part III for going back to the original concept and making something completely different, despite the fact that this entry is largely ignored by Halloween and horror film fans alike.

Based on a script by Nigel Kneale, the British force behind the classic sci-fi horror Quatermass series (although Kneale went uncredited after disputes with the producers), the story involves the machinations of ‘Silver Shamrock’ – a company that manufactures Halloween masks.A noble knight battles a wicked witch in a bid to save humanity from an ancient evil in this supernatural thriller starring Nicolas Cage and Ron Perlman. Upon returning to his home in Europe, crusading knight Behmen (Cage) finds his faith beginning to falter due to the brutality he’s witnessed on the battlefield. The Black Plague has decimated the countryside, forcing Behmen and his loyal companion, Felson (Perlman),

A city that’s received extensive promotion in recent years, bolstering its place as one of Europe’s primary tourist destinations, Dublin is a city that has something for everything.

Steeped in history, packed full of fantastic shopping areas and having a seemingly unlimited supply of bars and restaurants, throw in a touch of beautiful scenery and a sprinkling of Irish charm and you’ve got a wonderful city for anyone to visit.

Of the many different ways to sample the city’s delights, one particularly popular option is to carry out car hire Dublin.

Giving you unrestricted access to the whole of the city (and to a certain extent, the whole of Ireland), car hire Dublin makes for a great choice for those people who want to see every sight and attraction that Dublin has to offer without having to stick to often rigid timescales that are so often put in place on organised tours.

Whilst car hire Dublin may be a fantastic option, there are several points that you have to remember at all times, with the following three being the most notable.

1. Drink driving is illegal – just like it is anywhere else in the world, it’s illegal to drink and drive in Dublin.

Whilst this might not seem like anything that would need specifically pointing out, the reason it has been is that Dublin is the home of the world famous Guinness stout.

There is a copious amount of establishments where you can sample Guinness and you can even take a tour around the Guinness brewery, but what must be remembered is that if you have one pint of Guinness, you can’t drive. The legal limit is 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood, which works out, on average, at two units of alcohol – a pint of Guinness is 2.3 units.

2. The signs are occasionally located differently…- for the most part, you won’t notice a difference when driving in Ireland, especially if you’re used to driving in the UK. However, one particular difference is that occasionally, street signs are painted onto the sides of buildings, meaning that you need to be looking all around you when trying to look for signs, rather than keeping your eye out for a dedicated sign.

3. …and are always written differently – in the UK, we work on the Great British Pound currency and measure any lengthy distance in miles, with the road speed signs all being written in miles per hour.

As Dublin (and Ireland in general) follows the road rules of the European Union, using the Euro as a currency and kilometres for their distances, you have to keep in mind that when you see a sign on the motorway saying 120 kmh, this is 120 kilometres per hour – approximately 75 miles per hour.

Furthermore, the price of a litre of petrol at the pump in Dublin as of November 2010 is around 132.9c, a figure that you could immediately think is high, before you realise that the sign’s in c – cents – and not pence, which would put the cost at around 112.9 pence per litre.

Playa Blanca is a holidaymaker’s paradise with its white sand beaches at Papagayo, stunning mountain views towards Femes, breathtaking sea views over towards Fuerteventura, and of course its varied and excellent nightlife and eateries.

With flights from the UK & Ireland around only 4 hours, you can leave the cold, the snow, and the ice behind, and head straight for some winter sun.

Playa Blanca is just a half an hour’s drive from the Island’s airport at Arrecife, and as it is flanked by mountains – it enjoys a slightly warmer climate than the more northern areas of the island. Temperatures in the winter months normally hover around 22 degrees celsius during the day, and with longer days, and later sunsets than you are used to at this time of year, you can soon be sat outside your holiday villa with steaks and seafood sizzling on your barbecue, and a well-deserved glass of something nice and cold to sip by your side.

More and more people are preferring to rent a holiday villa in Playa Blanca, as opposed to a hotel, because of the freedom and privacy it affords them. In a nutshell, it is affordable luxury, on YOUR terms. No more fighting for sun beds, queueing at the bar, or restrictions on when you can eat… as renting your own villa affords you all the flexibility you can dream of.

For couples, renting a Playa Blanca villa is perfect, as most of the villas available at Lanzarote Lates are private, yet without compromising the magnificent views available around the resort.

Families also have a wealth of villas in Playa Blanca to choose from, many with extra safety options such as pool alarms, fences and other equipment to ensure that your little ones are safe whilst you are on your well deserved holidays.

Playa Blanca itself offers something for everyone. The Marina Rubicon is well respected within the Canary Islands, and offers a wide range of shopping opportunities in its many designer shops, and of course its twice-weekly market where you can stock up on gifts for your friends and family, and keepsakes as a permanent reminder of your holiday in the sun.

Flanking the seafront is a very wide choice of restaurants, with everything from Chinese and Indian cuisine, to Italian pizzas and pastas, to the more traditional Spanish fayre. Dont miss out on trying the local dishes such as Papas Arrugas, which are small wrinkly potatoes, served with mojo sauces. Or perhaps try something a little more Canarian such as suckling pig or rabbit.

Children are always welcomed in the restaurants in Playa Blanca, and you will find that they are soon keen to learn a little Spanish to speak to the friendly waiting staff in all the eateries.

If you fancy something a little more British or Irish, then there are many bars and cafes to satisfy your cravings. From fish & chips to Sunday roast dinners there is plenty to choose from.

If you prefer to eat at your self catering villa, then there are a number of good supermarkets in Playa Blanca, where you can buy meat, fish, vegetables and more all of a very good quality.

12.29.2010

2010 is almost over.Cheers to a New Year and another chance for us to get it right.Let us use hot mood and enthusiasm, New Year, new glory toward into and creation. So today I will list interesting New Year’s customs that you may or may not already know. Now, almost everyone celebrates New Year’s Day on January 1. Today, as before, people observe the New Year’s holiday in many different ways.
Fireworks, parties, and excitement are just a few words that Tiffany Jewelry cross our minds when we talk about celebrating the New Year.
Especially since black-eyed peas are eaten on New Year’s Day in the Southern United States, in hopes of a new year full of good luck. According to Epicurious, this tradition traces back to a Civil War miracle which apparently worked a lot like Hanukkah. The story says that soldiers running low on food survived on a small portion of black-eyed peas for much longer than you’d expect, and that’s why their descendants continue to eat them every year. That’s right, you just learned some history!
In our opinion, one of the most interesting New Year’s events comes from China. Chinese New Year is a special time of year.Yes, yes, the Chinese New Year is in February, but we’re still going to mention it here. If you’re somewhere with a Chinatown, make plans to welcome in the year alongside the locals, because their streets will be full of long, colorful dragons and friendly dancing lions. It’s exciting and fun, and if you follow them around, you’ll eventually get to see those lions "eating" some cabbages. They have firecrackers at New Year!
I don’t recommend you try to offer real cabbages to real lions, especially if they walk up to you in the street, but in this context, the cabbage represents good fortune. Sort of like in the early 2000s, when rappers called money "mad cheddar".
In northern China, especially in the countryside, people celebrate the New Year by dressing up in ancient costumes and going on parades.Chinese new year celebrations finish with a last round of fireworks to commemorate the Yuan Xiao or Lantern Festival.
Tibet also starts their new year late. In 2011, Losar happens around March 5th, and we’ve been told they’ll be serving Guthuk, a dumpling soup with ingredients like broth, noodles, a sugar cube, a piece of paper, a wool string, a piece of charcoal, and more! While we Americans might find charcoal soup to be grounds for a health inspection, it’s the Tibetan way of predicting your personal future. Like finding the ring in Irish barmbrack, only for Richard Gere and The Beastie Boys. Om Mani Padme Hum.
Another country with a great New Year’s story is Russia. They’ve got nice architecture as well.
Russians celebrate on January 1st, just like we do, but only because they were forced into it.Tiffany Jewelry sale In 1699, Peter The Great just plain moved the celebration 14 days ahead, in order to force Russia to join the rest of the modern world. Russians being Russians, of course, the common man just couldn’t let it go, which is how Russia wound up with a New New Year’s Day on the First and an Old New Year’s Day on the Fourteenth. We also have it on good authority (by which we mean our source is foodbycountry.com) that the holiday food of choice is pryaniki, a sweet cookie made to symbolize sweet wishes for a sweet future. It sounds very My Little Pony, but probably there’s some sort of pit fight around the cookie jar. Really, don’t mess with those Russians. Hard. Core.
But don’t think traditions aren’t still appearing. Some people enjoy Singapore’s Lo Hei tradition which might possibly have started in the mid-Sixties. And then, there are the Germans. Those Hasslehoff loving Germans. Unless this is some ridiculous prank designed by Slate.com, the Germans have an odd tradition that dates back to the early Seventies. On New Year’s Eve, they all turn on the television and watch Dinner For One an English TV play that okay, it’s never been aired in the US, so we have no idea. But thanks to Google, we can all watch it together right now.
It’s not Patton Oswalt or anything, but it’s not really bad. And anyway, who are we to judge? We’re the nation that invented the Christmas special. At New Year and always, may peace and love fill your heart, beauty fill your world, contentment and joy fill your days!
Whichever way people choose to welcome the New Year in Scotland, you can be sure that they all have a very good time, and probably enjoy it all with a wee drop of whiskey!
In Spain, people eat twelve grapes for good luck in the new year.Well, there we are. Five New Year’s Eve traditions you may or may not have already known about. We’d love to find you some more, but it’s our day off. Maybe you guys can research the other 190 countries on your own. It doesn’t matter if you track down First Footing or maybe Algeria’s Yennayer celebration, we want to see what you find.
People in different countries celebrate the New Year in different ways.A new year is another starting point on the journey of life. Wish you run on you will be welcomed by the nice and charming future.
