Lucky Clover
Lucky Clover
Luck of the Fryish ( Irish )
Lucky-Four-Leaf-Clover
Couldn’t you brighten someone’s day with a four-leaf clover?
You probably associate four-leaf clovers with St. Patrick and Shamrocks, but the tradition started long before that. In the early days of Ireland, the Druids believed that they could see evil spirits coming when they carried a shamrock, or three-leaf clover, giving them a chance to get away in time! They thought four-leaf clovers offered magical protection, and warded off bad luck.
The Irish often say that the green hills of the Emerald Isle (Ireland) contain more four-leaf clovers than anywhere else. Hence, the “luck o’ the Irish.”
Each leaf of the clover represents something very special: 1) hope, 2) faith, 3) love, and 4) luck! In Irish tradition the Shamrock or Three-leaf Clover represents the Holy Trinity. One leaf for the Father, one for the Son and one for the Holy Spirit. When a Shamrock is found with the fourth leaf, it represents God’s Grace.
Children in the Middle Ages believed that they could see fairies if they carried a four-leaf clover. It became a great game for them to search the garden first for a four-leaf clover, and again for fairies!
The odds of finding a four-leaf clover have been calculated at 10,000 to 1! If you do find one, you are lucky indeed.
The mystique of the four-leaf clover continues today. If you find a four leaf clover, it is believed to be an omen of good luck.
Don’t You Know Someone Who Could Use A Bit of Luck?
Our four leaf clover necklace make perfect gifts for yourself or someone special! Whether, it’s for a birthday, St. Patrick’s Day, or graduation, these lucky charms are sure to make someone’s day!
Asian American Actor John Wynn cast as lead, Aaron, in high school wrestling drama
LOS ANGELES –
All too rare is an Asian American cast for a lead male role, so ‘Beyond the Mat’ certainly deserves note for casting Vietnamese actor John Wynn for the lead role, Aaron. Wynn, born in Virginia to Vietnamese mother and French father was subjected to the arts at an early age, with first attempting to become a musician, but finally breaking into acting.

Wynn’s acting experience involves national TV commercial roles and modeling, with appearances on such hit shows as 7th Heaven, then cast for a hosting job on DirecTV’s CD USA show, which is an internationally syndicated showcase of live concerts and performances. There he gained international recognition and no doubt caught the eye of some higher-ups in the film industry.
Susan Wrenn, head of marketing for Catch-22 Entertainment, a division of C-22 Capital Inc, tells us John Wynn has that star quality that captivates you from the moment he’s first on screen. She continues, His performance showcases not only a keep drmaatic sense as well as athletic prowess, but also demonstrates his universal appeal. Wrenn formerly worked campaigning for Paramount Pictures on such youth-centered features as Wayne’s World, Save the Last Dance, Jackass, Rugrats, Beavis and Butthead, and Kings of Comedy Tour.
‘Beyond The Mat’, directed by Van M. Pham, is a ‘coming-of-age drama set against the backdrop of highschool wrestling’, featuring a talented group of attractive young actors, including Days of Our Live’s Mark Hapka. The film also has appearances of some real-world Wrestling Pros including Kurt Angle and Ken Shamrock. Catch 22 Entertainment/ C-22 Capital Reviews have been positive so far, and they have scheduled ‘Beyond The Mat’ for release in 2011.

Why do we celebrate St. Patricks Day? Who was that guy and why is it a major beer-drinking holiday celebrated with parades and shenanigans? Why do we wear green?
Well, we can look no further than the Irish, as St. Patrick was the patron saint of Ireland. St. Patricks Day started as purely a Christian observance holiday, then was developed into a feast holiday, and today is celebrated by Irish descendants world-wide.
St. Patrick was born into a Roman-British family in the early 400s AD with the birth name, Maewyn. He was given his Christian name of Patrick when he entered the priesthood later in life. He was captured by Irish raiders and taken into slavery at the age of 16. After six years he was able to escape and he fled to Gaul where he joined the Church and studied to be a priest. I suppose if one was held captive by the Irish for six years, one wouldnt be too eager to return however in 432 Patrick returned to Ireland as a bishop and spent 30 years teaching Gods word. During that time, St. Patrick was successful in converting a large number of Irish citizens to Christianity. The Irish were certainly thankful for Patricks forgiveness of their sins; in return they dubbed him a saint and declared March 17th an official holiday in remembrance.
Originally St. Patrick was associated with the color blue, however over the years the transition has been to green, mainly due to the shamrock. The wearing of the shamrock is a Christian tradition. It is said that St. Patrick used the shamrock as a teaching example to explain the Holy Trinity the father, son and Holy Spirit. Today, whether Irish or not, green is a customary color worn, along with shamrock pins, beaded necklaces and Leprechaun hats.
Starting in the 1600s, March 17th became a day that Irish Christians could take a break from fasting during the 40 days of lent. They were allowed one day to feast and drink alcohol. Over the centuries, the day has evolved to include parades, pub events and outrageous green attire. In 1931 the first St. Patricks Day parade was held in Dublin. Today New York City hosts one of the largest St. Patricks Day parades in the world. Chicago even goes so far to dye the Chicago River green.
Green Beer and Irish Stout
Green beer is a popular drink on St. Patricks Day, a way to truly show your spirit. Many bars and pubs offer a special green beer on their menu during the week of St. Patricks Day. Often just a drop or two of food coloring in a light colored lager is all you need to add to festive touch to your beverage, but beware of green teeth if you have one too many!
A good Irish stout is another widely consumed beverage on March 17th. Dublin-brewed Guinness is by far the most popular and well known choice. Guinness is a dry Irish stout, but other types of stouts to sample include imperial stouts, sweet milk stouts, oatmeal stouts and a close cousin to the stout, the porter. Domestic company Lagunitas out of California brews a mean Cappuccino Stout. An imperial style stout, Lagunitas Cappuccino Stout boasts 9.2% abv with dark malts, roasted barley and local coffee thrown in the mix.
If you want to really get festive, ask your friendly bartender to whip up an Irish Car Bomb. Half a pint of Guinness and a shot of Baileys Irish Cream mixed with Jamison Irish Whisky. Simply drop the shot in the pint glass and chug. They are dangerously delicious, so make sure to pace yourself!

1. Use a professional photo of yourself and use it
consistently on all of your online profiles. Using the same
photo helps potential clients and the media recognize you. Using cropped or
unprofessional photos can really hurt your image. If it was taken on your cell phone,
it shouldn’t be your profile picture. Also, use a picture of you, and not your logo on
the accounts with your name on them. A photo of you makes you more approachable.
If you have a company page or account, logos are fine, but make sure they are correctly
sized and clear.
2. Use established social media sites. These include
MerchantCircle, Facebook, Plaxo and LinkedIn. The idea behind using social media is
for you to be reachable and visible on the sites where your clients and customers
already are. You might personally find an up-and-coming social media site to be great,
but the majority of your potential customers are on the major social media sites and
may not want to join you on a lesser known site. Don’t forget the Yahoo! and Google
local business directories which can help you show up to local searchers. Beware of the
business directories that solicit your business, wanting you to pay for your listing and
promotion on their unknown site.
3. Sharpen up your resume and experience, and be
consistent. If someone is looking for you on the Internet and gets three or four
different versions of what you have been up to these past few years, they are not likely
to call you or visit your establishment. Be honest and straightforward about your
experience, awards and purpose.
4. Tweet professionally. You may have a personal Twitter or other
microblogging service where you keep up with friends and family. That’s fine, but make
sure you keep your personal tweets, like the fact that you had a miserable time at the
company picnic, to yourself. Keep a separate account for your professional updates and
share information that is helpful to your readers, not just memes about how great you
are. Share tips and advice that make your readers’ day better and they will return to
you when they need your professional service.
5. Use privacy controls. You might already have personal accounts on
social media sites, but these should not be synonymous with your business persona.
Use privacy controls to make sure your personal conversations and activities are not
getting in the way of your business. You can like” a political party candidate or post
those pictures that show what a great time you had out on the town last night on your
own account but make sure you limit who can see that information.
6. Put your best foot forward by having a short
summary of who you are and what you offer. Many professional
sites have space for a summary, which allows you to highlight your strengths. This is
a great spot to point out how you are unique and how your experience and skills work
to your customer’s advantage. Be creative and catchy in your self-description, but don’t
sound like a braggart or unprofessional. This is your career, not a dating ad. Licensed
Financial Advisor and Youth Volunteer” is far more likely to get you a call than Perky
Fun Video-Gaming Gemini.”
7. Consider a video interview or demo. Many sites like VisualCV,
MerchantCircle and Facebook have the ability to host short videos. These can help
highlight your abilities to your clients. For a retail location, shoot a short video
showing your establishment and describing your services. For a service-based business,
include a description of what you do, and how you do it. Trainers, coaches,
salespersons and anyone who delivers presentations as part of their job can use a short
video to show their effectiveness, humor, clarity and style. Showing your comfort
working with various groups, and your ability to deliver a message effectively over
video, is important to many career paths and for clients who want to see who they will
be working with.
8. Remember to offer information you would want to
receive as a customer. When building and reviewing your online profiles,
remember to think like your potential client or customer. Is your contact information
readily accessible? Did you include a link to your website or address of your location?
Do you clearly state the purpose and offerings you and your business have to offer?
Ease of finding information on your social media profiles is what starts the client or
customer’s experience of working with you and your company. If your profiles are only
half completed or don’t offer helpful information, your potential clients and customers
will assume the same is true about you and your business.
Before you start building your online presence, make sure you have the tools to do
the above steps at hand. Gather them all in one place so you can reference them
quickly. It is also better to have a few well-done social media and online profiles than
to have a multitude of incomplete profiles.
If you work in a niche market, search online to see where your competition or
similar organizations or professionals have online profiles and view their pages. That
way you can make note of what you do or don’t like about their profiles, and what
seems to be working for them as they interact with their customers.
Most importantly, if you need help, find someone to help you. It may be hard to
admit that you need help with all this technology, but biting the bullet and asking for
assistance is much better than the potential of ruining your professional or business’
online reputation.

About the Author:
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is an American mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion company that hosts most of the top-ranked fighters in the world and produces numerous events worldwide. The UFC has seven weight-divisions and enforces the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts. Dana White serves as the president of the UFC; Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta control its parent company, Zuffa, LLC.
Inspired by vale tudo tournaments in Brazil, the UFC and the sport of MMA have roots in the ancient Olympic combat sport of Pankration in 648 BC. The UFC held its first competition in Denver, Colorado in 1993. Showcasing fighters of different disciplines including boxing, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, wrestling, Muay Thai and other styles the UFC sought to identify the most effective martial art in a real fight. After a period of political backlash, the UFC gradually underwent reform by embracing stricter rules and achieving sanctioning with State Athletic Commissions.
With a cable-television deal and expansion into Canada, Europe, Australia the Middle East, Asia and new markets within the United States, the UFC as of 2011 has gained in popularity, along with greater mainstream-media coverage. As of 2011 viewers can access UFC programming on pay-per-view television in the U.S., Australia, Canada, New Zealand and Italy.
UFC programming can also be found on Spike and Versus in the U.S., on ESPN in the United Kingdom and Ireland, as well as in over 130 countries and in 20 different languages worldwide.
Although UFC used the tagline “There are no rules!” in the early 1990s, the UFC did in fact operate with limited rules. There was no biting, no eye gouging, and the system frowned on (but allowed) techniques such as hair pulling, headbutting, groin strikes and fish-hooking.
In fact, in a UFC 4 qualifying match, competitors Jason Fairn and Guy Mezger agreed not to pull hair as they both wore pony tails tied back for the match. Additionally, that same event saw a matchup between Keith Hackney and Joe Son in which Hackney unleashed a series of groin shots against Son while on the ground. The UFC had a reputation, especially in the early days, as an extremely violent event, as evidenced by a disclaimer in the beginning of the UFC 5 broadcast which warned audiences of the violent nature of the sport.
UFC 5 also introduced the first singles match, called “The Superfight.” This was an important development because singles matches would feature fighters who suffered no prior damage from a previous fight in the same event, unlike tournament matches. Singles matches would also become a staple in the UFC for years to come.
“The Superfight” began as a non-tournament match that would determine the first reigning UFC Champion for tournament winners to face; it later evolved into a match that could feature either title matches or non-title matches.
The “Superfight” would eventually completely phase out tournament matches; by UFC Brazil, the UFC abandoned the tournament format for an entire card of singles matches (aside from a one time UFC Japan tournament featuring Japanese fighters). UFC 6 was the first event to feature the crowning of the first non-tournament UFC Champion, Ken Shamrock.
Faced with the prospect of folding, the UFC stepped outside the bounds of pay-per-view and made a foray into television. After being featured in a reality television series, American Casino, and seeing how well the series worked as a promotion vehicle, the Fertitta brothers developed the idea of the UFC having its own reality series.
Their idea, The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) a reality television show featuring up-and-coming MMA fighters in competition for a six-figure UFC contract, with fighters eliminated from competition via exhibition mixed martial arts matches was pitched to several networks, each one rejecting the idea outright. Not until they approached Spike TV, with an offer to pay the $10 million production costs themselves, did they find an outlet.
In January 2005, Spike TV launched TUF in the timeslot following WWE Raw. The show became an instant success, culminating with a notable season finale brawl featuring finalists Forrest Griffin and Stephan Bonnar going toe-to-toe for the right to earn the six-figure contract, an event that Dana White credits for saving the UFC.On the heels of the Griffin/Bonnar finale, a second season of The Ultimate Fighter launched in August 2005, and two more seasons appeared in 2006. Spike and the UFC continue to create and air new seasons.
Following the success of The Ultimate Fighter, Spike also picked up UFC Unleashed, an hour-long weekly show featuring select fights from previous events. Spike also signed on to broadcast live UFC Fight Night, a series of fight events debuting in August 2005; Countdown specials to promote upcoming UFC pay-per-view cards, and several other series and specials featuring and promoting the UFC and its fighters.

A controversial film for many horror fans, Halloween III is probably the most despised entry in the series for many. This would be on account of the fact that it is the only Halloween movie that does not feature masked killer Michael Myers. But is that really such a bad thing? I mean, honestly?
The Halloween franchise suffered a very similar fate as the Friday the 13th series did at roughly the same time. The original concept for both franchises was to do a movie based on something completely different each year or so, making a series that would be something of an anthology of different horror stories. But after the huge success of the first film, Michael Myers, like Jason (despite the latter never actually appearing in the first ‘Friday’ movie) was revived for the sequel with mixed results. So I have to give credit to the filmmakers of part III for going back to the original concept and making something completely different, despite the fact that this entry is largely ignored by Halloween and horror film fans alike.
Based on a script by Nigel Kneale, the British force behind the classic sci-fi horror Quatermass series (although Kneale went uncredited after disputes with the producers), the story involves the machinations of ‘Silver Shamrock’ – a company that manufactures Halloween masks.A noble knight battles a wicked witch in a bid to save humanity from an ancient evil in this supernatural thriller starring Nicolas Cage and Ron Perlman. Upon returning to his home in Europe, crusading knight Behmen (Cage) finds his faith beginning to falter due to the brutality he’s witnessed on the battlefield.
